This summer, enthusiasts of classic automobiles and motorcycles will gather at an event celebrating the golden age of speed on the sands of East Yorkshire. The festival, known as Race the Waves, pays homage to a bygone era when Yorkshire beaches served as testing grounds for land speed records. During this special occasion, participants will showcase their vintage vehicles in thrilling pairings over a 200-yard stretch along South Beach, while motorcycles will compete in groups ranging from four to five racers.
Since its inception in 2018, Race the Waves has become a beloved tradition, offering free admission to all who wish to experience its charm. Scheduled from June 12th to 15th, the festival promises an unforgettable ambiance, drawing families and aficionados alike. Prior to the main event, preparations kick off at Burton Fleming’s village hall and field on June 12th, followed by a parade through Bridlington's Church Green on June 13th. Racing activities commence on June 14th and continue into the following day, captivating audiences with displays of historic engineering prowess.
Through events like these, communities come together to celebrate shared interests and foster connections across generations. Such gatherings not only honor the legacy of past achievements but also inspire future innovators. By showcasing the beauty of preserved history, festivals such as Race the Waves remind us of the importance of cherishing our cultural heritage while embracing opportunities for growth and discovery within today's world.
