The 12th edition of the Retro Málaga vintage car exhibition took place over the weekend, transforming Malaga’s conference centre into a hub for classic car enthusiasts. Spanning more than eleven thousand square metres of exhibition space and featuring six thousand square metres of covered parking, this event stands as the premier annual classic car fair in southern Spain. Attendees enjoyed a variety of exhibitions, competitions, rallies, tributes, and commercial areas. A notable addition this year was a photographic collection showcasing the evolution of automobiles in Malaga. The event attracted significant attention from both aficionados and the general public, with highlights including images of the first vehicle registered in Malaga and unique creations like the 'De Lorenzo' built by a physiotherapist.

The history of automotive development in Malaga was vividly depicted through photographs curated by Francisco Muñoz. This exhibition traced the timeline from 1896 to 1910, starting with the arrival of the Panhard Levassor, the first car in Malaga. Another significant exhibit was the Oldsmobile, which held the distinction of being the first vehicle to carry the province's number plate in 1907. These historical pieces provided visitors with a rare glimpse into the early days of motoring in the region.

One of the most captivating exhibits was the 'De Lorenzo', a hand-built vehicle crafted by Xuan de Lorenzo, a physiotherapist from Asturias. Over six years, he transformed his passion for classic cars into reality, learning the intricacies of automobile assembly along the way. Powered by a Pegaso Pedralbes engine, this unique creation stood out among the many classic cars on display. The story of its creation symbolized dedication and perseverance, resonating deeply with attendees.

Another highlight was the dedicated area for classic car owners who brought their vehicles to the event. This exclusive parking zone offered discounts on entry and served as a showcase for a wide array of classic models. Classic car clubs, including the prestigious Ferrari club, took advantage of the occasion to exhibit their prized possessions, drawing large crowds throughout the weekend.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Seat, one of Spain’s iconic automotive brands, a special section highlighted the brand’s evolution. From pioneering models to recent innovations, this exhibition celebrated Seat’s contributions to the industry. Notable displays included the Seat Bocanegra, a model developed entirely in Spain, and other legendary vehicles like the Jaguar Xk 120 and BMW 2000 CS, each representing milestones in automotive history.

The Retro Málaga 2025 event successfully bridged the gap between past and present, offering a rich tapestry of automotive heritage.
