Originating almost two decades ago with Gabriel Campanario, who began sketching his new city of Seattle to familiarize himself with it and refine his artistic abilities, the movement has blossomed into a global phenomenon. What started as an online community sharing drawings on Flickr quickly expanded into in-person meetups and, eventually, over 500 chapters across more than 70 countries.
