"So they've got all aspects of their game covered."Timing is Everything: Aligning with the High School Season

This synchronization allows the athletes to immediately apply the skills and techniques they've learned at the camp, giving them a head start on the upcoming season."The timing of the basketball camp coincides with the start of the high school basketball season for these girls," Wiley notes. "It's a great opportunity for them to get a jump-start on the season and work on specific areas of their game."Building a Supportive Community: Fostering Connections and Mentorship
The JCC Women's Basketball Elite Camp goes beyond just skill development; it also serves as a platform for building a supportive community among the region's top basketball talent. By bringing together players from various high schools, the camp creates an environment where they can learn from one another, share experiences, and forge lasting connections. For the JCC players, the camp offers a unique chance to give back to the community and share their own lessons and insights. "I think it's honestly really fun to come and teach kids here," says JCC sophomore guard and All-American LaKaiya Butcher. "I think we have a lot of local kids that look up to us now, especially with the things we did last year. So, them coming here and getting a chance to learn from us, I think is really cool."Cultivating Local Talent: Investing in the Future of Basketball in the Region
The JCC Women's Basketball Elite Camp is more than just a one-time event; it's part of a broader effort by the college to nurture and develop the basketball talent within the local community. By offering a range of summer camps, leagues, and fall programs, JCC is committed to building a strong pipeline of skilled players who can represent the region at the highest levels of competition."You look at my roster, it's all local," Wiley says. "NAC girls, Frontier League girls, some from Onondaga County, it's mostly just this local area. Just trying to build the local talent and having our summer camps, our summer leagues, and then fall leagues, fall camps just to kind of build the skill level in this area, which has been great."This holistic approach to player development not only benefits the individual athletes but also strengthens the overall basketball landscape in the region. As the JCC Women's Basketball Elite Camp continues to attract and nurture the area's top talent, the future of basketball in the region looks brighter than ever.
