Guiding Students and Families on the Path to Higher Education

FAME's College Access and Financial Education Team is a driving force in ensuring that Maine's students and families have the resources and support they need to navigate the complex landscape of college access and financial aid. Through a comprehensive suite of services, the team provides invaluable guidance on saving for higher education, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and making informed borrowing decisions.The team's unwavering commitment is evident in the impressive impact they have achieved. In the past fiscal year alone, they coordinated and participated in 232 financial aid information sessions and workshops, reaching over 6,800 Maine students and families. Additionally, they conducted 77 training workshops for more than 4,800 counselors and advisors, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to better serve their communities.Recognizing the critical importance of FAFSA completion, the team went above and beyond, organizing 41 workshops attended by 537 individuals to help students navigate the process. Their efforts paid off, as they were able to increase the FAFSA completion rate for Maine high school seniors from the Class of 2024 by a remarkable nine percentage points, reaching over 61%.

Beyond college access, FAME's College Access and Financial Education Team is dedicated to promoting financial wellness and empowerment among Maine's students. They hosted 129 financial wellness-focused events, reaching an impressive 6,500 students with valuable information and resources.By addressing the diverse financial needs of Maine's youth, the team is equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, manage their finances effectively, and ultimately achieve their educational and personal goals.
