In NASCAR, Chandler Smith currently finds himself without a definite seat in Cup, Xfinity, or the Truck Series. At this moment, the options seem limited, yet the possibility of a last-minute job remains. His social media posts show his gratitude and excitement for the future.
He expressed on social media, "2024 was one of the best years I’ve had in racing in a very, very long time. Being able to work with everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and being back with the Toyota family was an absolute pleasure. As we close the chapter on 2024 and I reflect on how the season went, it’s very hard to hang my head over it. Yes, we didn’t make the championship 4, yes we didn’t win as many races as I would have liked, but it was one of the best seasons yet. I will be forever grateful for my entire 81 group."
During the 2024 season, Chandler Smith achieved remarkable feats. He won two races and began with seven consecutive top-10 finishes. In the final twelve races, he posted 10 top-5 finishes and only one finish outside the top-10. This includes three pole awards as well.
Despite not making it to the Championship 4, his average finish of 5.42 during the seven playoff races was outstanding. However, without a win, he couldn't secure a transfer based on points. His success in the Truck Series and Xfinity Series is undeniable, with six poles, three wins, and 20 top-10s in 40 starts.
We know that Chandler Smith has some funding, but the exact amount remains a mystery. His talent and performance suggest that he could be a valuable asset to a smaller organization. Daniel Hemric's recent landing of a ride with Bill-McAnally in the Truck Series shows that there are opportunities out there.
Perhaps there is a ride similar to that waiting for Smith. His consistent performance and skills make him a strong candidate. If he doesn't find a seat in NASCAR next year, it would raise questions about the system.
