The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) has made a significant move in its coaching staff, announcing the promotion of Jeff Burrow to Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach. This new role comes after Burrow's successful tenure as co-defensive coordinator and safety coach during the previous season. Under his guidance, the Golden Lions demonstrated remarkable defensive prowess, ranking fourth in interceptions within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Additionally, two of his players, Ja’Marlin Green and Quintin Sterling, finished among the top 16 in tackles.

Burrow's journey to UAPB is marked by an impressive coaching career that spans over two decades. Prior to joining the Golden Lions, he spent three years at the University at Buffalo (UB), initially serving as the director of player personnel before transitioning to coaching defensive backs. His impact was immediate and profound; in 2020, UB's safeties were instrumental in securing the top ranking in total defense within the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Notably, Cory Gross and Tyrone Hill excelled under Burrow's mentorship, with both players making significant contributions to the team's success. Burrow’s coaching also extended beyond the field, as he nurtured several Academic All-MAC players, including Jordan Italiano, who became the first football player at Kent State to earn three-time Academic All-American honors.

Jeff Burrow's promotion reflects not only his expertise in developing talented athletes but also his commitment to fostering academic excellence. His extensive experience, from his early days as a defensive graduate assistant at Notre Dame and Minnesota to his leadership roles at Kent State and UB, positions him well to lead the Golden Lions' defense to new heights. As the team looks forward to the upcoming season, Burrow's appointment brings renewed hope and a renewed focus on building a strong, resilient defense. The future of UAPB football is bright, driven by the dedication and vision of coaches like Burrow who inspire both athletic and academic achievement.
