A Closer Look at Mystikum’s Latest Creations

Based in Berlin, Mystikum, founded by Peter Hensen last year, continues its legacy of creating distinctive fragrances. On February 28, 2025, the brand will release two new additions to its collection: Nightfall in the City of Kings and The Color of Air. Both perfumes will be available in 100ml Eau de Parfum bottles, priced at €220 each.

Nightfall in the City of Kings is a fragrance that captures the essence of twilight in a majestic setting. This composition, masterfully created by perfumer Mark Buxton, begins with radiant top notes of carrot seed, cardamom, peach, and orange blossom, evoking warmth and opulence. The heart notes unfold into a rich tapestry of cinnamon, cumin, freesia, Turkish rose absolute, ylang-ylang, and clove oil, reminiscent of ancient palaces and candlelit corridors. Finally, the base notes settle into an exquisite blend of ambrarome absolute, amber, cedarwood, castoreum absolute, tonka beans, patchouli, musk, sandalwood, and vanilla, providing depth and richness.

The Color of Air, on the other hand, celebrates lightness and movement. Composed by Alexandre Illan, this scent opens with effervescent top notes of coriander, bitter orange, and kumquat, offering vibrant citrus clarity. The heart notes of blackberry, frostwood, and Timut pepper create a textured, almost weightless sensation. A base of amber, patchouli, and ambrostar grounds the fragrance with warmth while maintaining its airy elegance.

Mystikum’s name and bottle design draw inspiration from a fragrance launched by the German company Scherk in 1910. The brand’s latest offerings reflect a blend of historical homage and contemporary innovation.

From a reader's perspective, these new releases from Mystikum not only expand the world of perfumery but also invite us to explore the emotional landscapes they evoke. Whether it’s the regal depth of Nightfall in the City of Kings or the ethereal beauty of The Color of Air, these fragrances remind us of the power of scent to transport and transform our daily experiences. They serve as a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship that continue to define Mystikum’s signature style.
