RARITAN TOWNSHIP – The Flemington area, known as a lucrative location for car dealers, may have two more dealerships.

The township Zoning Board of Adjustment is scheduled to begin public hearings on Sept. 19 on a proposal by Flemington Family Partnership, part of the Fred Beans Automotive Group, to build two new dealerships on Route 202 across from the Flemington Mall.

One dealership is proposed to be Toyota and the other is proposed to be Nissan, according to site plans.

The future of Fred Beans’ other Toyota and Nissan dealerships in the township on Route 202/31 near the Hampton Corner Road intersection is not known.

The plan calls for the new dealerships to be built next to each other on the properties owned by California Development, of Ringoes and Flemington 202 Properties of Waldwick.

The Toyota dealership will be bigger, a total of 33,287 square feet with a 5,169-square-foor showroom and 30 service bays.

The Nissan dealership will be 23,160 square feet with a 4,643-square-foot showroom and 13 service bays.
