Tufts University Sailing Team Shines at NEISA Championship

In the recent New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Fleet Racing Championship, Tufts University's coed sailing team demonstrated commendable performance. Positioned ninth among seventeen teams, Tufts competed fiercely against some of the region's top collegiate sailors. Hosted by Brown University, this event saw numerous races conducted over two divisions. Day One Highlights from the NEISA Championship

On April 19, 2025, amidst crisp spring air, Brown University welcomed competitors for the prestigious NEISA Fleet Racing Championship. The day featured eight races across A and B divisions, testing each team’s endurance and skill. Tufts' total score stood at 119, with contributions from both divisions. Notably, the B team led by sophomore Kurt Stuebe alongside senior Naomi Pedersen excelled, achieving a commendable sixth place in their division. Their performance included four top-five finishes, highlighted by a second-place achievement in the third race.

The A team, helmed by junior Ben Mueller with alternating crew members Kate Castleberry and Cody Lamoreux, ranked eighth after overcoming Connecticut College in a tiebreaker. Harvard University currently leads the championship with an impressive scoreline of 31-32-63. This competition not only offers the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl to its champion but also secures an automatic spot in the upcoming national championships in May.

As the tournament progresses into its second day, scheduled to commence at 9:30 AM on Sunday, all eyes remain on Tufts as they strive to elevate their standing further.
