This week, the racing community has been plunged into mourning as it bid farewell to two iconic car owners. Just last week, Walt Dyer passed away, and in his memory, Danny Dietrich took to the track in the Brickmobile 461. Unfortunately, we also lost Joe Harz, another great and long-time car owner.
Local Hero Brock Zearfoss' Homecoming and Victory
Brock Zearfoss has been on the road with the World of Outlaws sprint car series all season. However, on Saturday night, he returned home and made a remarkable comeback. Zearfoss was lightning-fast from the moment he rolled his car out of the trailer and immediately turned it into his first victory since July 2, 2022. He pocketed a $10,000 payday for his efforts. Zearfoss got off to a great start by beating Logan Schuchart off the line and smoothly sailed into Turns 1 and 2 to take the lead. But his lead was short-lived as the first caution of the 30-lap race came out on the second circuit.Fourth-place starter Chase Dietz seized the opportunity on the restart and surged past Schuchart through the third and fourth corners to claim second place. He got a clear shot at Zearfoss when Austin Bishop spun for the second time on the sixth lap.Another caution occurred one lap later when Daison Pursley spun in Turn 1. Zearfoss managed to pick up the front end on the restart and almost gave up the lead, but he was able to maintain and build a 1.482-second advantage by the 10th circuit.Dietz was able to close the gap to just 0.427 seconds at the halfway point, but that was as close as he would get. Zearfoss expertly navigated through thick traffic over the final 10 circuits and claimed the win by a margin of 1.135 seconds at the finish line.Dietz finished second, with Schuchart, Danny Dietrich, and Brent Marks completing the top five. Dietrich also secured the RV four-wheel drive point championship. The 358 Modified Main Event - Billy Pauch Jr.'s Dominance
