In a heartbreaking incident, a 19-year-old woman from Melbourne, Florida, lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 (I-95) after exiting her vehicle following a previous crash. The tragic event unfolded just after midnight, shattering the lives of all involved and leaving the community in mourning.

A Devastating Sequence of Events

Speeding Lexus Collides with Semi-Truck

Witnesses reported that a 2010 Lexus ES350 sedan was speeding and weaving through traffic on I-95 south, approaching the Pineda Causeway (mile marker 188). The Lexus then collided with the rear of a semi-truck in the outside lane, causing the Lexus to come to a stop partially inside the outside lane and on the outside shoulder. The semi-truck came to a rest on the outside shoulder.

Exiting the Vehicle, a Tragic Mistake

After the initial crash, the 19-year-old woman, who was the driver of the Lexus, exited her vehicle. As she stood outside the car, a Ford pickup truck traveling in the outside, southbound lane attempted to avoid the Lexus but struck the rear of the car while swerving to its left. The impact of this collision then struck the young woman, who had already stepped out of the Lexus.

Thrown into the Path of Oncoming Traffic

The force of the collision threw the 19-year-old woman into the inside lane, where she was then struck by a Toyota Camry. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene, her life cut short in a devastating series of events.

Passengers Sustain Injuries, Others Unharmed

A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Lexus was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers in the Lexus were not injured and remained at the scene. The drivers of the tractor-trailer, pickup truck, and Toyota Camry were all unharmed and remained at the scene as well.
