The tragic incident unfolded around 6 p.m. on Monday, just south of Harrah's Casino, near the intersection of Valley Center Road and South Paradise Creek Lane. A 19-year-old male from Valley Center, driving a red Toyota Tundra, was traveling southbound on Valley Center Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered into the opposing traffic lane. This resulted in a head-on collision with a northbound black Ford F-150, driven by a 72-year-old man, and a white Toyota Camry, driven by a 16-year-old male and carrying a 20-year-old female passenger.The impact of the collision was devastating. The 72-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 succumbed to his injuries at the scene, despite the efforts of emergency responders. A 69-year-old female passenger in the Ford F-150 sustained major, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The 16-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry and his 20-year-old female passenger both sustained minor injuries and were also transported to a nearby medical facility.

Suspected Alcohol Impairment Leads to Arrest of Toyota Tundra Driver

According to the CHP, there is evidence to suggest that alcohol impairment was a contributing factor in the tragic incident.
