Sequim is gearing up for another remarkable season of spreading joy through the Toys for Sequim Kids initiative. Volunteers with Sequim Community Aid have placed donation trees and boxes at five convenient locations across the city, ensuring that children aged 1-18 will receive a plethora of new age-appropriate gifts such as toys, games, clothes, and sports equipment. This holiday event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Sequim Prairie Grange on Macleay Road. Parents and guardians are required to present proof of Sequim School District residency, and only one adult is allowed to enter the event. It's important to note that no child care is provided.
Popular Gifts for Different Age Groups
Co-organizer Kathy Suta highlights that Lego sets and Pokemon items remain highly favored among children. Additionally, presents for teens are in great demand, with approximately 40 percent of the families who visited in 2023 seeking gifts for children aged 13-18. Some recommended presents for teens include name-brand hoodies, makeup, video games, headphones/earbuds, and Nerf equipment. Last year's event successfully provided items for about 450 Sequim-area children, demonstrating the significant impact of this initiative.Gifts for Younger Children
For younger children, a wide variety of toys and items are in need. Soft toys, board games, and educational toys are always popular choices. These not only bring joy to the children but also help in their development. The donation of new clothes in appropriate sizes is also crucial as it ensures that every child has something nice to wear during the holidays.Gifts for Teenagers
Teenagers have specific preferences when it comes to gifts. Name-brand hoodies not only provide warmth but also add a touch of style. Makeup allows them to express their individuality. Video games offer entertainment and a chance to bond with friends. Headphones/earbuds are essential for their music and entertainment needs. Nerf equipment gives them an active and fun pastime. These gifts help teenagers feel special and appreciated during the holiday season.Supporting Year-Round Assistance
In addition to the Toys for Sequim Kids event, Sequim Community Aid offers year-round utility and rental assistance to Sequim School District residents. This year, requests have already increased by about 20 percent compared to 2023, especially during the colder months. Donations can be made by mailing to Sequim Community Aid, P.O.
