Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online, particularly those with the Expansion Pass, already enjoy a selection of vintage games from various platforms, including the classic Sega Genesis. While the current lineup offers a taste of nostalgia, a wealth of outstanding Genesis titles has yet to make their debut on Nintendo's modern service. This list explores ten such iconic games that would significantly enhance the Switch Online experience.
Among the noteworthy omissions are titles like Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure, a quirky platformer known for its distinct humor and solid mechanics, and Championship Pro-Am, an improved version of a popular racing game that introduced enhanced visuals and competitive elements. Another beloved game, Ecco: The Tides of Time, continues the aquatic adventures of Ecco the Dolphin with new abilities and expansive levels, while Forgotten Worlds offers an arcade-style shooting challenge that, despite losing some stages in its Genesis port, compensated with new features. Strategy enthusiasts fondly remember General Chaos for its unique isometric battlefield view and humorous cartoon-style combat. Vertical shooter fans recall Phelios, where players guide Apollo through mythological battles. Furthermore, the brawler Splatterhouse 2, a horror-themed sequel, and the visually stunning mech shooter Ranger-X also stand out as prime candidates. Lastly, the European-exclusive racing game Super Skidmarks, known for its chaotic multiplayer, and the distinctive fighting game ClayFighter, with its claymation aesthetic and unique characters, are also highly anticipated. Each of these games left a memorable mark on players during their initial release, offering diverse genres and innovative gameplay that would be welcomed by a new generation of fans.
