On Thanksgiving Day, skiers took to the slopes of Ski Brule in Stambaugh Township, Michigan. The resort opened two hills - the bunny hill and the intermediate hill logjam. Operations Manager Jessica Polich expressed confidence in a successful season, stating that while last season was tough across the Midwest, Ski Brule was 100% open and attracting new faces in search of snow.

Hosting a Ski Racing Camp

Ski Brule is currently hosting a ski racing camp with 170 athletes and 16 coaches. Racing Camp Head Coach Pat Slattery mentioned that many coaches attended the camp as athletes themselves. For example, Tommy Joe Springer, who is skiing for NMU and was a former state high school champion in Wisconsin and junior Olympic champion, has been coming to Ski Brule since she was eight years old. The athletes' ages range from ten to 50 years old, and while many are from ski teams in Upper Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, some have traveled from places like Chicago and even North Carolina.

Benefits of Ski Brule for the Camp

Camp Coach Bob Vial emphasized that Ski Brule is one of the best spots to hold the camp. Just a week ago, the slopes were green and brown, but with the right temperatures, the snow was laid down quickly. The resort is very aggressive in getting the snow ready and providing a great skiing experience. The ski racers love coming here, and it's a perfect location for the camp.

Future Plans for Ski Brule

Ski Brule plans to have additional hills open to the public by next weekend. This will offer more opportunities for skiing enthusiasts to enjoy the slopes. With the success of the current camp and the upcoming expansion, Ski Brule is set to have an exciting season ahead. It's a place where skiers of all ages and backgrounds can come together and experience the joy of skiing.
