Two suspected thieves caused quite a stir this week in the Houston area as they led officers on a pursuit. However, what initially seemed like a typical theft case took an unexpected turn when investigators realized the extent of these crooks' wine theft activities.

Uncovering the Wine Thief's Hidden Haul

Initial Incident on Dec. 15

On December 15th, the Friendswood Police Department received a report of two men stealing wine from a local H-E-B grocery store. Through careful examination of the security footage, investigators were able to establish a connection between these two suspects and other wine thefts in the area. This initial discovery set the stage for a series of events that would unfold.

The trail led investigators to the Katy area, where they alerted the Katy Police Department. The officers were quick to track down the suspect's vehicle and attempted to stop it. But the suspects refused to comply, leading to a high-speed pursuit.

Suspect's Arrest and Confirmed Heists

During the chase, the police were able to safely bring the suspects' car to a halt and make the arrests. What was found in their possession was truly astonishing - a total of 498 bottles of wine, all believed to be stolen. This confirmed the investigators' suspicions that these crooks were linked to previous wine heists and revealed the extent of their criminal activities.

Michael Diaz, 42, was charged with theft, while Juan Carlos Rosa-Torres faced charges of theft and evading arrest. Both suspects are currently being held in the Fort Bend County Jail, awaiting further charges and legal proceedings.
