Ruthie Carpenter, a 9th grade volunteer, highlighted the situation, saying, "What happened was devastating, and I mean these people are in a lot of need of the food." Rolland further explained, "There’s a need in these mountains almost always, but when people have been hit with a flood and your neighbor is helping your other neighbor, well, at some point the neighbor helping the neighbor needs some help, and that’s what we came in to do."The volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that those in need received the assistance they deserved.
