Lisa Jaster, a veteran and cyclist for Team One Mile, acknowledges the difficulty of the task, stating, "I am not a cyclist, I bought a bike for this event, and have been training for about 9 months for it, haven't trained nearly enough, and it was hard... but it was not as hard as what those kids are going through."The team's determination is fueled by the personal connections they have to the cause. Jaster has lost many friends in combat and due to unseen injuries that have led to suicide, making the organization's mission deeply personal to her.
