Tarleton Tennis Reveals 2025 Spring Schedule at Home

Tarleton Tennis is all set to embark on an exciting 2025 spring season, with a whopping 22 matches and 10 hosting contests at their renowned Tarleton Tennis Facility. Under the leadership of head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron, the team is gearing up to make a mark.

January: Home Stand and Early Challenges

The season kicks off on January 23 with a home match against Conference USA foe New Mexico State. This sets the tone as the Texans continue their homestand on January 25 with a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. against Lubbock Christian and Collin Community College. It's a busy start, but the team is ready. After that, they travel south to face Big 12 conference member Houston on January 31. This month is a crucial test for Tarleton as they build momentum for the rest of the season.January shows the Texans' determination to dominate their home court and make a statement early on. They know that these early matches will set the stage for the rest of the season and they are fully committed to giving their best.

February: Road Trips and Tough Competitions

February begins with a four-match road trip starting on the 1st at Prairie View A&M. This is a challenging start to the month as they face tough opponents on their home turf. After 13 days off from action, Tarleton travels to San Marcos and San Antonio for road matches at Texas State (Feb. 14), UTSA (Feb. 15), and Incarnate Word (Feb. 16). These matches will test their skills and resilience on the road.Returning home from these trips, Tarleton faces another Conference USA foe, UTEP (Feb. 21), and New Mexico (Feb. 22) before going to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on Oral Roberts (Feb. 28). February is a month of continuous travel and tough competitions, but the team is up for the challenge. They know that every match is an opportunity to grow and improve.

March: Home and Away Contests

March starts with three straight matches at the Tarleton Tennis Facility, beginning with Tyler Junior College on March 6. This gives the team a chance to showcase their skills in front of their home crowd. They will then host Louisiana Tech (March 9) and Northwestern State (March 15) before traveling to former conference rival SFA (March 17). These matches will test their versatility and ability to perform in different environments.The Texans will face former Tarleton assistant, Sonia Carlson, in her first year at the helm of McNeese when they take on the Cowgirls March 18 in Louisiana. This is a special match as they will be facing a familiar face. Tarleton wraps up March with road contests at North Texas (March 29) and UT Arlington (March 30). March is a month of diverse challenges as the team moves from home to away and back again.

April: Final Home Matches and Big Showdowns

April begins with a home match against defending WAC champions and 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifier Grand Canyon on April 4. This is a big test for the team as they take on one of the top teams in the conference. They then travel to Dallas to take on SMU (April 6), a 2024 NCAA Tournament team that made the Round of 32 last season. These matches will be a great opportunity for the team to prove themselves against tough opponents.The regular season wraps up with the final home match of the season against UT Arlington (April 10) before traveling to in-state rival Abilene Christian (April 12). April is a month of high-stakes matches as the team aims to finish the regular season on a high note.

WAC Tournament: The Final Push

Tarleton will compete in the WAC Tournament April 17-19 at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas. The WAC is not mandating in-season conference matches in 2025, and seeding will be based on national rankings. This makes the tournament even more important as the team will need to perform well to secure a good seed.Under Douglas-Miron in four years at the Division I level, Tarleton State has won the WAC Coach of the Year award, the WAC Player of the Year award, the WAC Freshman of the Year award, and 14 All-Conference honors (seven Singles All-WAC First Team, one Doubles All-WAC First Team, five Singles All-WAC Second Team, one Doubles All-WAC Second Team). The Texans have also earned 35 midseason monthly or weekly awards (four Singles Player of the Month, one Doubles Team of the Month, 15 Singles Player of the Week, and 15 Doubles Team of the Week). This shows the team's consistent excellence and their ability to perform at a high level.In the 2024 fall campaign, Tarleton had a historic run. Senior Noelia Lorca won the inaugural WAC Tennis Invitational singles title en route to qualifying for the ITA Conference Masters Championship. The Texans completed the 2024 ITA Texas Regional Championships with an All-Texan doubles final of the consolation draw, with Lorca and junior Emma Persson clinching the consolation doubles draw over teammates Ximena Morales and Maria Castano. Persson advanced to the Round of 16 in singles at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. Freshman Duru Kuscu also qualified for the singles main draw in Fort Worth. This fall campaign was a testament to the team's talent and potential.Tarleton Tennis is ready to take on the 2025 spring season with confidence and determination.
