In a significant move to enforce federal employment laws, three companies in Colorado have been slapped with hefty fines totaling over $8 million. This enforcement action comes after investigations revealed widespread violations concerning the hiring of unauthorized workers. The operation involved thorough workplace audits conducted collaboratively by Homeland Security Investigators and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These efforts aim to ensure businesses adhere to legal standards and maintain integrity within the immigration system.

Among the penalized entities, CCS Denver incurred the largest penalty at an astonishing $6,186,171. The investigation unveiled that every single hire made by this company violated employment eligibility regulations, with clear evidence indicating the deliberate engagement of at least 87 unauthorized employees. Similarly, PBC Commercial Cleaning Systems faced a substantial fine of $1,599,510 due to a violation rate exceeding 70%, involving the employment of individuals without proper documentation. Lastly, Green Management Denver received a fine of $270,195, reflecting another instance of complete non-compliance with employment laws.

According to Special Agent in Charge Steve Cagen, employing unauthorized workers not only disrupts the immigration system but also disadvantages employers who follow the law. The penalties imposed underscore the government's dedication to upholding legal standards and fostering a culture of compliance. Through its three-pronged strategy encompassing Compliance, Enforcement, and Outreach, Homeland Security Investigations aims to streamline worksite enforcement effectively. This initiative highlights the importance of adhering to federal employment laws, ensuring fair competition and protecting the rights of all workers, regardless of their origin.
