Among seventeen distinguished honorees statewide, these two young men stood out due to their academic excellence and athletic prowess. Hurd, bound for Brown University after turning down prestigious offers, boasts a remarkable GPA of 4.71—highest in his school's history—and scored perfectly on the ACT. Meanwhile, Daniel plans to attend Bethel University in Minnesota while maintaining an impressive GPA of 4.23.

The occasion was made even more memorable when Hurd shared personal reflections about meeting John Elway, a former Denver Broncos star who addressed the attendees. Their encounter left an indelible mark, symbolizing how hard work transcends sports into broader life successes.
