Strategic Acquisition Bolsters Healthy Food Market Presence in Germany

A significant development has emerged in the packaged salad industry as the Bonduelle Group announces the sale of its German salad business assets to Taylor Farms and Foodiverse. This transaction encompasses two specialized production facilities focused on ready-to-eat salads, with Foodiverse taking charge of all unified business activities. Both companies, headquartered in the US and Spain respectively, are renowned for their expertise in fresh, healthy food products. The partnership strengthens their foothold in the German market while enabling Bonduelle to concentrate on its canned and frozen offerings. Additionally, Bonduelle continues its expansion in Europe's fresh delicatessen segment and recently introduced its brand to the American market.

The acquisition involves Thurländer Salate, a plant specializing in private-label production of ready-to-eat salads. Starting April 1, three sites will operate under the Greenfresh corporate brand. This move elevates the Foodiverse group’s global workforce to 2,650 employees across nine production plants and 2,700 hectares of managed farmland. Joaquin Ballester, president of Foodiverse, emphasized that integrating these facilities aligns with the company’s growth strategy in the healthy food sector.

Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms, highlighted the strategic intent behind this acquisition. The goal is to enhance the fresh packaged salad market by delivering innovative and nutritious products to customers in Germany and beyond. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to meet consumer demand for healthier options effectively.
