Following a prolonged period of teasing users, Spotify finally unveiled its 2024 Wrapped a bit later than in the previous two years. According to USA TODAY, last year's Wrapped was released on Nov. 29, in 2022 it came out on Nov. 30, and in 2021 and 2020 it dropped on Dec. 1. In 2019, it was released on Dec. 5, and in 2018 it was on Dec. 6. To access their Wrapped, users need to update their Spotify to the latest version. The "Spotify Wrapped" package should show up on the front page of the iOS and Android apps. Upon opening the app, users can expect to find an invitation to view their Wrapped report. On Monday, Dec. 2, two days before the release, Spotify posted a teaser on X with a graphic of a pre-wrapped checklist and the caption "Are you #SpotifyWrapped ready?" However, this tweet has since been deleted, and many users expressed their frustration with the wait in the replies, begging Spotify to just release Wrapped 2024 already.
Does Spotify stop counting after October? Last month, Spotify reassured users that the rumor about data for Spotify Wrapped not extending past Oct. 31 is false. The music streaming service shared a Halloween graphic on X with a message stating "Spotify Wrapped doesn't stop counting on October 31st."
Spotify Wrapped made its appearance in 2015 with its "Year in Music" feature, enabling users to see which artists they listened to the most over the previous 365 days. Over the years, the platform has enhanced the feature with more graphic design and data personalization, eventually changing its name to "Spotify Wrapped."
Apple Music listeners need not feel left out as they too have their end-of-the-year present. Apple Music's Replay was released on Wednesday, Dec. 4, just like Spotify Wrapped. It compiles Apple Music users' listening data for the year, including top songs, artists, albums, and total minutes listened. This feature was launched in 2022 to compete with Spotify Wrapped.
Apple Music users can access their Replay by locating the Listen Now tab in the app, scrolling to the Replay section, tapping the Replay '24 playlist, and then selecting the plus button in the top right. After that, they can check out their Replay '24 throughout the year in the Playlists section of their library.
Last year, YouTube Music listeners got their first taste of an end-of-year music recap. Similar to Spotify, YouTube Music listeners can see their most-listened-to songs, artists, and albums, and the platform matches them to moods and themes. To access the YouTube Music Recap, simply log into your account on the app or in a browser. You can also access it from the regular YouTube app.
SoundCloud has a version of Spotify Wrapped called SoundCloud Playback. It may not be as social media-friendly as the other streaming platform recaps, but it does summarize each user's listening habits on a year-by-year basis. Playback is just a playlist of your most-listened-to songs from the last year. SoundCloud users don't have access to their Playback playlists for 2024 yet, but they should receive an email when it is ready. Since it is based on music played between January 1 and November 30 of each year, SoundCloud's Playback playlists are expected to drop soon.
According to Pandora Community posts, the music-streaming platform's Playback user year-in-review is no longer available. It is unclear when officials discontinued the feature or how long it was available.
