Three dozen underprivileged children in Covington County are experiencing the joy of special Christmas presents this year. Thanks to the generous donations from many residents who participated in the annual gift drive at the Covington County Sheriff’s Department. Thursday marked the distribution day for the “Pack a Patrol Car” gift drive, which had started several weeks prior. Donations of toys, clothing, and monetary contributions were accepted at the Covington County Sheriff’s Office and other locations. These gifts were delivered to students at Mount Olive, Hopewell, Collins, and Seminary elementary schools. As Sheriff Darrell Perkins stated, “The citizens really came out this year with monetary support. We were able to furnish 37 children with bicycles, toys, and clothes for their Christmas.
