Funded by the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund, this $8 million investment focuses on exploring innovative cropping, grazing, and mixed farming practices that boost drought resilience. Key themes identified through community-driven design meetings include climate-adaptive grains, soil health improvement, precision livestock management, and increased landscape diversity.

This pioneering program has established four flagship research centers across South Australia, complemented by 35 innovator sites on commercial farms. These locations serve as testing grounds for new technologies and practices, directly engaging local farmers and advisors. Zoe Starkey, appointed as Long-Term Trials Coordinator, emphasizes the importance of long-term trials in building farmer confidence in adopting these innovations.
