Purchasing his first boat, a Grady-White 22-foot powerboat, Stollman immersed himself in the world of boating, quickly realizing the importance of mastering the necessary skills to navigate the treacherous waters.

Inspired by a friend's suggestion during a particularly windy stretch, he acquired a 15-foot sailboat and began honing his skills, eventually joining the Coconut Grove Sailing Club and crewing with experienced sailors. Stollman's competitive nature soon took over, and he set his sights on racing, starting with an early generation Ultimate 20 and eventually upgrading to a 38-foot Tartan racer, which he named "Primal Scream."

Stollman's dedication to sailing was unwavering. He and his crew would practice two nights a week, honing their skills and preparing for the challenges that lay ahead. Their first major race, a 40-miler from Fort Lauderdale to Palm Beach, was a learning experience, but Stollman and his team were undeterred. Over the years, they competed in prestigious events like the Key West Race Week, facing setbacks and triumphs, but ultimately emerging as a force to be reckoned with on the water.
