Petaluma, California holds a special place in the hearts of many with the establishment of the Polly Klaas Community Theater. This 100-seat theater was named in memory of Polly Klaas, who was tragically abducted in 1993. Her love for theater was evident, as she participated in all her school plays. Her mother's words, "If you want to remember my daughter, remember her for how she lived," have truly inspired the theater's revival.

Reopening and Community Effort

After being shuttered for 20 years, the theater was reopened in 2022 as a result of a collective community effort. It serves as a testament to the power of community and the importance of celebrating lives. There is no better way to honor Polly Klaas than by having this space filled with the enthusiasm, vibrancy, fun, and talent of young performers.

Music and Its Impact

Petaluma business owner Michael "Bug" Deakin understands the significance of the theater in the community. He organized a rock and roll fundraiser to support the theater. Music, as he believes, is a powerful force that brings people together. It has the ability to take one back to a joyful place in life. Space Orchestras, a 13-piece Joe Cocker tribute band, will perform a two-night concert. This full-bodied orchestra can be felt down to one's bones. It is a rock and roll orchestra from outer space, as described by lead singer Sebastian Saint James. The band will perform Cocker's iconic "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" album. Saint James emphasizes that the live record is one of the most overwhelming and joyous live records ever released. It is the kind of music that makes one truly feel something.

Community Support and Sponsors

Deakin has rallied the community behind this event. Rock and Roll Chef Gray Rollin, who recently returned from a tour with Linkin Park, is co-sponsoring the event. His restaurant, Belly Left Coast Kitchen & Taproom in Santa Rosa, is proud to be a part of it. Rollin expresses his happiness in being a sponsor with the Space Orchestra and the Polly Klaas Theater. The event has also attracted the support of iconic music artist Stanley Mouse, known for his Grateful Dead and Journey album covers. He has created an original concert poster to commemorate the event. Deakin emphasizes the amazing sound of this 1911 church repurposed as a theater, which is sure to leave one in awe. This theater is not just a physical space but a symbol of the community's dedication to the arts. It will be here for generations to come, thanks to the collective care and support of the community. For more information on the Polly Klaas Community Theater, visit https://www.pollyklaastheater.org/.
