Rhode Island Rowing Shines at Lake Wheeler Invitational

On the inaugural day of competition, Rhode Island Rowing showcased impressive performances in two rounds of racing at the prestigious Lake Wheeler Invitational. Among the standout crews was the Varsity 8+, which claimed fourth place in both heats they participated in. With a cohesive effort, this team triumphed over Boston College and Georgetown in their initial race, maintaining their momentum to edge out the Hoyas and Jacksonville in their subsequent bout.

The Second Varsity 8+ also demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the event. Following an opening heat that saw them secure sixth place, they rebounded strongly with a commendable fourth-place finish in the afternoon session. Their tight-knit performance allowed them to surpass Georgetown and Jacksonville in what turned out to be a fiercely contested race. Meanwhile, Rhody’s Varsity 4+ put forth consistent efforts, finishing sixth in the first round and fifth in the second.
