RFK Racing last ran three full-time cars in the NASCAR Cup series way back in 2016. Since then, the team has been on a journey of evolution and growth. In 2022, when Brad Keselowski joined as a co-owner and driver, the team started to show signs of a turnaround. They won six races in the last three seasons and even had two cars deep in the playoffs last year.
However, before this recent success, Roush, once a superteam with five full-time cars, had been on a downward trajectory. They started downsizing in 2010 and lost several start drivers over the next few years. The team remained winless for years, with just two victories between 2014 and 2021. They also struggled to put a single car in the top-ten in points since 2014.
In 2025, RFK Racing will enter the No. 60 car alongside the No. 6 driven by Brad Keselowski and the No. 17 of Chris Buescher. The pilot of the No. 60 car is none other than Ryan Preece. Preece is a former NASCAR Whelen Modified champion with 187 starts in the Cup Series. This will be his sixth full-time season at the Cup level, having previously driven for JTG-Daugherty Racing and SHR.
Despite never winning at the Cup level, Preece has several victories in the Xfinity and Truck Series. His young talent, which has grown from the grassroots level all the way up to the Cup Series, is what excites RFK Racing as they move forward.
The announcement also includes the addition of Kroger as a primary sponsor. Kroger has already worked with Preece during his time at JTG. The company and 20 of its brands will appear on three cars throughout the 2025 season. This partnership is a significant boost for RFK Racing, allowing them to fulfill their growth objectives and continue to push the envelope in search of the competitive edge needed to compete at the top level of NASCAR.
RFK Racing's ex-SHR teammates have also found homes in the Cup Series. Chase Briscoe will drive the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, replacing the semi-retired Martin Truex Jr. Meanwhile, Josh Berry will pilot the iconic No. 21 Ford for the Wood Brothers, and Noah Gragson joins Front Row Motorsports.
