Recall Issued for Undeclared Allergens in Breakfast Snack Packs

A recall has been issued for breakfast snack packs sold at Kroger and Meijer stores across 13 states due to undeclared allergens. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Wednesday that the products contain wheat and eggs, which were not listed on the packaging labels. This poses a significant risk to individuals with allergies to these ingredients. Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC, based in Alma, Georgia, is responsible for the recall of 694 cases of "Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes." No illnesses have been reported so far, but consumers are advised to take necessary precautions.

The recalled items come in a 2.1 oz./60 grams colored plastic package, marked with lot number 1097901 and an expiration date of February 25, 2025. These packages can typically be found in the refrigerated sections of produce or deli departments. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that incorrect back labels had been placed on the packages. Further investigation revealed that this issue stemmed from a production label changeover failure, which has since been addressed.

The affected products were distributed in several states, including Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The presence of undeclared allergens could lead to serious allergic reactions among those sensitive to wheat or eggs. As a result, Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC took swift action to ensure consumer safety by recalling the potentially hazardous items.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled breakfast snack packs and have a wheat or egg allergy or sensitivity should refrain from consuming the product. They are encouraged to either dispose of the item or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. This precautionary measure aims to protect public health and prevent any potential adverse reactions. Despite no reported illnesses thus far, the company remains vigilant in ensuring the well-being of its customers.
