Manchester City and Manchester United are set to face off at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Both clubs are in desperate need of an upturn in form. BBC Sport's football expert Chris Sutton shares his thoughts on this highly anticipated Manchester derby.

The Battle for Manchester - City vs United

Manchester City's Struggles

The wheels have truly come off at Manchester City. They have managed to keep a clean sheet just once in their past 10 games. Their manager, Pep Guardiola, is even talking about being tired, which must have sent a message to the current players. You never know with Pep, and he may have been being sarcastic, but if he is truly tired, it could pose a worry for the team with their current run.

City has always been a force to be reckoned with, but these recent struggles are a cause for concern. They need to find a way to turn things around and regain their dominance.

Manchester United's New Manager

At Manchester United, new manager Ruben Amorim is barely through the door, and the club's owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is not holding back in his criticism. Amorim beat City 4-1 in his final game in charge of Sporting before coming to Old Trafford, which got United fans excited. However, they have quickly realized that they are still the same team that was struggling under Erik ten Hag.

It will be interesting to see how Amorim can turn things around at United and bring some much-needed stability to the club.

Preview of the Derby

Both teams have been really bad recently, so it's a tough call to make. In the recent past, I have always gone with City in Manchester derbies, and while Amorim beat them with Sporting, you have to remember City could have been a few goals up by half-time in that game.

So, I am going to go with City to win at home and maybe rejuvenate Pep before Christmas. It will be a crucial game for both teams, and the outcome could have a significant impact on their seasons.
