At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Pittsfield police officers conducted a routine traffic stop for civil infractions in the area of West Street and Edwin Street. The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Anthony Winters of Pittsfield, initially complied with the officers' instructions. However, in a sudden and unexpected move, Winters reportedly fled the scene, making contact with the officer in the process.

High-Speed Chase Ensues

The pursuit began on West Street and spilled onto Jason Street, where Winters lost control of his vehicle in the 200 block. The car collided with a telephone pole, causing a broken pole and a subsequent power outage. The impact also resulted in a car fire, adding to the already chaotic scene.

Suspect Apprehended After Fleeing on Foot
