In a celebration of local sports history, Parkersburg South is set to honor its 1975 state championship baseball team. Meanwhile, the Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley Golf Scramble prepares to bring together golf enthusiasts for an annual charity event. These activities highlight community spirit and the legacy of athletic achievements in the region.

Honoring the Past and Supporting the Future

On a nostalgic evening, Parkersburg South will pay tribute to the 1975 state championship baseball squad before their game against Fort Frye at Hank Greenburg Field. Young players gain complimentary entry by showcasing their team jerseys or T-shirts. Spectators can also acquire commemorative T-shirts, with proceeds partially benefiting the South baseball program. Transitioning to another community highlight, the Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley Golf Scramble takes place on May 19 at the Parkersburg Country Club. Registration opens at 10 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11 a.m. This four-person mix scramble event is limited to the first 30 teams, though individual participants will be accommodated. The entry fee covers green fees, cart rentals, lunch, and an awards reception, while prizes await winners in various categories.

These events underscore the importance of preserving local heritage and fostering community engagement through sports. Celebrating past triumphs and supporting future endeavors not only strengthens bonds but also inspires upcoming generations to strive for excellence. Such initiatives remind us of the enduring power of teamwork and shared goals in building vibrant communities.
