Between the talented Paul Pogba (31) and the alluring Olympique de Marseille, a mutual interest has been brewing. Pogba, whose doping ban was recently reduced from four years to a mere 18 months, is set to resume his playing career in March 2025. However, currently, he finds himself without a club after his contract with Juventus was terminated by mutual consent last month.
Former Teammates' Influence
Since the news of his impending return, Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Marseille. Former teammate Patrice Evra has been actively lobbying for this transfer. Additionally, France teammate Adrien Rabiot, who made the switch from Juventus to OM in September, has "invited" Pogba to join him at the Vélodrome. This shows the pull that Marseille holds for Pogba and his compatriots. The Marseille Perspective
Marseille are indeed interested in the former Manchester United midfielder. RMC Sport understands that the club's owner, Frank McCourt, has been a big fan of Pogba since watching him in the semi-finals of Euro 2016. McCourt is open to making such a move as it would enhance the club's visibility both in France and across Europe. Marseille sees Pogba as a key addition that could take them to new heights.Pogba's Aspirations
Pogba himself is also keen on a move to Marseille. RMC Sport reports that the midfielder desires to play in France and is open to joining OM. He aims to re-earn a place within the France set-up, and he realizes that a move to Roberto De Zerbi's side would provide him with a great opportunity. Although it is described as a "difficult" deal due to financial constraints, it is not an "impossible" one. Pogba believes that with the right circumstances, he can make a successful comeback in Marseille.
