During these challenging times in Texas, one in every eight households grapples with the issue of food insecurity. Theresa Mangapora, the Executive Director of the Brazos Valley Food Bank, reveals that this number is even slightly higher in the Brazos Valley. As the holiday season approaches, typically a time of joy and celebration, many families find themselves under immense stress as they strive to make ends meet. For the 29th consecutive year, KBTX has joined forces with the Brazos Valley Food Bank for the Food for Families Food Drive.
Partnership for a Good Cause
The KBTX team is actively involved in this initiative by setting up seven drive centers across the Brazos Valley. These locations include the Brazos Center in Bryan, the Son-Shine Outreach Center in Madisonville, the Pridgeon Community Center in Franklin, the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hearne, the St. Mary’s, Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Hall in Caldwell, the MidSouth Electric Co-op Operations Facility in Navasota, and the Washington County Expo in Brenham. People can make a difference by donating food and monetary contributions at these convenient locations. Most Needed Food Items
Canned proteins play a crucial role in providing essential nutrition. Cereal or oatmeal offers a quick and convenient breakfast option. Boxed meals like Hamburger Helper are handy for those busy days. Canned fruits and vegetables add variety to the diet. Peanut butter and jelly are staple items that many families rely on. Baby food is also in high demand to ensure the well-being of little ones. These are just some of the food bank's most needed items.Impact of Small Donations
Did you know that just $1 can buy two meals? This statistic highlights the significance of even the smallest donations. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. The Brazos Valley Food Bank is dedicated to providing nourishment to those in need. If you are unable to make it to one of the drop-off locations today, you can easily donate online. Your support can help alleviate the hardships faced by many families.Making a Difference Together
By participating in the Food for Families Food Drive, we are coming together as a community to address the issue of food insecurity. It is not just about providing food; it is about showing compassion and care for our neighbors. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure that no one goes hungry. Let us all do our part and contribute to this worthy cause.
