Painted Park: Transforming a Beloved Space into an Elevated Playground

In a captivating tale of resilience and innovation, the son of a renowned restaurateur, Justin Amick, has breathed new life into a beloved Atlanta establishment. Faced with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and a changing landscape, Amick seized the opportunity to reimagine the space, creating a one-of-a-kind destination that seamlessly blends entertainment, dining, and community.

Elevating the BeltLine Experience: A Playground for the Senses

Transforming a Neighborhood Staple

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the elder Amick's lease was ending, the decision was made to shutter the New Orleans-style restaurant that had long occupied the space. However, Justin Amick, recognizing the growing popularity of the BeltLine, was not ready to give up on the location. With a vision to take the space to the next level, Amick embarked on a transformative journey, tearing out the small parking lot and replacing it with a lush green area and a tunnel connecting the building to the BeltLine.

Designing an Elevated Experience

The expansion of the building by 1,000 square feet, the addition of large windows and patio ceilings, and the restoration of the natural brick walls and concrete floors have created a modern and inviting atmosphere. The main bar has been extended, and a "floating" DJ booth, along with the introduction of games like ping-pong, darts, and skee-ball, have transformed the space into a true recreational haven.

Catering to the Diverse Needs of Patrons

Painted Park is designed to cater to a wide range of visitors, from the neighborhood regulars to the tourists exploring the BeltLine corridor. The outdoor Gazebo Bar offers a limited menu and a cozy setting for those looking to enjoy the park and the big game, while the Solarium provides an indoor/outdoor feel with French doors leading to the Gaming Room, where a vintage gaming parlor-inspired atmosphere sets the stage for table service and a full food and beverage menu.

Upstairs: A Blend of Modern and Art Deco

The upstairs area of Painted Park is a harmonious blend of modern and art deco decor. The polished brass bar spans two dining rooms, with the original tin ceiling now shining in a sleek black hue. Soft and funky furniture, including oversized Chesterfield booths and leopard print ottomans, can be rearranged to create a dance floor on weekend nights. The Mirror Bar, with its backlit white onyx top and a cozy gas fireplace, adds a touch of elegance and warmth to the space.

Crafting a Stellar Beverage Menu

Amick's focus on creating an "adult experience" is evident in the carefully curated beverage menu. Corporate beverage director Julian Goglia has developed a cocktail list that caters to a range of tastes, from signature concoctions like the "Goonies Never Say Die" to frozen and classic options. The wine list, curated by Amick himself, showcases high-acidity and mineral-driven selections, while the beer selection features both local and national brands, including the exclusive Painted Pilsner.

Diverse Dining Options

The food offerings at Painted Park are equally impressive, designed by Painted Hospitality corporate executive chef Thomas Collins. The menu spans a wide range of options, from bar fare and sandwiches to salads and health-conscious bowls. Standout dishes include the fried calamari, the Juicy Lucy burger, and the airline chicken in a beurre blanc sauce. Dessert lovers can indulge in the Tunnel Cake, a playful twist on a fairground favorite.

A Refined, Elevated Party

Painted Park is poised to offer a unique experience that combines the best of dining, drinking, and entertainment. With its diverse range of amenities, from the outdoor green space and gaming areas to the upscale dining rooms and dance-friendly spaces, the venue caters to a wide array of preferences and occasions. Amick's vision of creating a "refined, elevated party" is set to become a reality, as Painted Park prepares to welcome both neighborhood regulars and visitors alike.
