Ottawa University Men's Tennis Team Secures Spot in NAIA Championships After KCAC Finals

On Saturday morning at the Dr. Emory Lindquist Tennis Center in Lindsborg, Kansas, the Ottawa University men's tennis team faced a tough challenge during the KCAC Tournament Championship match. Although they ultimately lost to McPherson College with a score of 4-2, their performance was commendable. The doubles segment saw victories by Ben Russell and Oscar Giorgio over Arthur Nardy and Simon Delgadillo, as well as Santiago Tartaglia and Daniel Sanchez defeating Jayson Wasserfuhr and Balazs Temesvari. Despite losing several singles matches, including those by Russell and Perez Wienese, OU showcased resilience. With an impressive season record of 18-7, Ottawa University will advance to compete in the NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championships held from May 13-17 in Mobile, Alabama.

In the doubles portion of the match, Ottawa University demonstrated strong teamwork and tactical prowess. Russell and Giorgio claimed victory in the second doubles match with a decisive 6-3 win against Nardy and Delgadillo. Following this success, Tartaglia and Sanchez secured another win for the team in the third doubles slot, defeating Wasserfuhr and Temesvari with a score of 6-2. The final standings revealed McPherson's slight edge over Ottawa University, but the latter’s overall performance throughout the season earned them a prestigious invitation to the NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championships.
