Northern Michigan University (NMU) is gearing up for an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their football talents. The university's head coach, Shane Richardson, has officially opened the doors for a tryout event aimed at discovering new talent for the 2025 football season. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 19th at 8 a.m., this tryout will take place at the Superior Dome, providing a platform for eligible students to prove their mettle on the field.

To ensure a safe and fair evaluation process, participants must meet specific eligibility criteria and submit necessary documentation. Students interested in joining the team must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the fall semester and maintain good academic standing. Essential documents include a recent physical exam report, a completed pre-participation evaluation form, proof of sickle cell testing, and signed consent and risk assumption forms. All these materials should be submitted to NMU at least one week before the tryout date.

The NMU football program prioritizes the safety and well-being of all prospective athletes. Participants are encouraged to come prepared with appropriate footwear and workout attire. Assistant Coach Elijah Fernandez is available for inquiries and registration assistance. This tryout represents more than just a sporting event; it symbolizes the university's commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and community involvement. Prospective players have the chance to contribute positively to the NMU sports legacy while pursuing their academic goals.
