Nourishing the Golden Years: Comfort Keepers' Vital Mission

Addressing the Epidemic of Senior Hunger

The statistics are sobering – one out of every six Americans over the age of 60 suffers from some form of malnutrition, a direct result of their inability to access sufficient nutritious food. This crisis is often exacerbated by the difficult choices seniors must make between purchasing food and affording essential medical care or medications. Comfort Keepers is determined to tackle this pressing issue head-on, leveraging their annual Feed Seniors Now Food Drive to make a tangible difference in the lives of the region's most vulnerable population.

Mobilizing the Community for a Cause

Comfort Keepers is calling upon the generosity of the Mid-Ohio Valley community to contribute to their food drive, which runs from November 1st to February 1st. Strategically placing donation barrels at Madison Elementary School, the Parkersburg YMCA, and their own Belpre office, the organization is making it easy for residents to drop off much-needed non-perishable items. From canned fruits and vegetables to peanut butter, Ensure drinks, rice, and dried cereals, every donation will be carefully sorted and distributed to local food pantries, including FaithLink, Harvest of Hope, and the Gospel Mission Food Pantry.

Exceeding Last Year's Impressive Haul

In 2023, Comfort Keepers' efforts resulted in the collection of an impressive 2,300 pounds of food, a testament to the generosity of the community. This year, the organization has set an even more ambitious goal – 2,500 pounds of food. With the economic challenges facing many seniors, the need for this vital support has only grown, and Comfort Keepers is determined to rise to the occasion and exceed their previous accomplishments.

Partnering for Greater Impact

Recognizing the importance of collaboration, Comfort Keepers is actively seeking out businesses and organizations that are willing to partner with them in this endeavor. By expanding the network of collection points, the organization aims to maximize the reach of their food drive and ensure that no senior in the Mid-Ohio Valley is left behind. Through these strategic alliances, Comfort Keepers hopes to not only meet but surpass their ambitious goal, providing a lifeline to those in need.

Comfort Keepers' Holistic Approach to Senior Care

Comfort Keepers' commitment to the well-being of seniors extends far beyond the scope of this food drive. As a provider of in-home care services, the organization is dedicated to helping seniors live healthy, independent lives. By addressing the fundamental need for nourishment, Comfort Keepers is taking a holistic approach to senior care, recognizing that access to nutritious food is a crucial component of overall wellness and quality of life.
