Change often brings fresh energy, and this is precisely what Hamilton Southeastern anticipates with the appointment of Bobby Allen as their new boys basketball coach. Known for his remarkable achievements at Guerin Catholic, where he guided the team through seven successful seasons, Allen brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence. His tenure was marked by numerous accolades, including leading the Golden Eagles to four sectional titles, three regional championships, and an appearance in the 2023 3A state finals. In expressing his excitement about joining the Royals family, Allen emphasized his passion for coaching and teaching, eagerly embracing this next chapter in his career.
Beyond his accomplishments at Guerin Catholic, Allen’s journey includes significant contributions to other programs. Before taking the helm at Guerin, he served as an assistant coach at Cathedral and spent six years at Knightstown from 2011 to 2016. This extensive background positions him well to take over from John Ashworth, who recently stepped down after four years leading Hamilton Southeastern. The team showed strong potential under Ashworth, particularly toward the end of the last season when they won five consecutive games before narrowly losing to Noblesville in the sectional semifinal. With this foundation, Allen inherits a squad poised for further success.
Athletic director Drew Tower highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding all athletic programs at Hamilton Southeastern, setting high expectations for continued excellence. As the Royals transition into this new era, they do so with a solid roster. Despite graduating only one player, senior Braeden Totton, the team retains key players such as juniors Maverick Young, Luke Weemer, and Landon Osswald, along with standout freshman Varschon Clark. This continuity promises a promising future under Coach Allen's leadership. Embracing change with optimism, Hamilton Southeastern looks forward to building on its rich tradition while striving for greater heights in the competitive world of high school basketball.
