Coaching Experience and Background
Joe LoBaido brings a wealth of coaching experience to Lapeer. He has coached in the Flint area at Powers Catholic High School, St. John Vianney Catholic School, and St. Mary’s Mt. Morris. Over 26 years, he has coached or assisted on 20 teams, developing an encompassing program building plan. His focus on communication, family, and mentorship is at the core of his coaching philosophy.During his college years, LoBaido played for Mott Community College and led the Bears to the regional semifinals in 1994. After that, he decided to jump into the coaching realm and has since held various coaching positions, including at St. Mary’s in Mt. Morris, St. John Vianney, and Powers Catholic.Goals and Vision
LoBaido is driven to be a coach and mentor to Lapeer student-athletes. He aims to enrich their high school experience while providing a positive learning environment. His program emphasizes positive, constructive coaching techniques to enhance the physical and mental growth of the student-athletes.Team building will involve varsity to sub-varsity interactions and family program events. He will be active within the Lapeer community, working with coaches and the district’s programs to promote a positive, competitive environment. His goal is to enhance the love of basketball within the Lapeer community and instill a sense of pride in being part of the Lapeer Lightning basketball program.Personal Life and Family
LoBaido has been married to his wife Sarah for 11 years, and the couple resides in the Lapeer area with their children Audrey, Andrew, and Eli. This connection to the local community adds another layer to his role as the head coach.First Season and Upcoming Games
The 2024-25 Lapeer girls varsity basketball season kicks off on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at Lapeer High School against Pontiac Notre Dame Prep.
