Sioux Falls' Newest Food Truck Serves Up Loaded Baked Potato Delights

In the bustling city of Sioux Falls, a new food truck has emerged, captivating the taste buds of locals and visitors alike. Street Taterz, the brainchild of Travis and Traci Decker, is making waves with its mouthwatering menu of loaded baked potatoes, bratwurst, chili dogs, and homemade chili.

Transforming Careers and Satisfying Cravings

A Shift from Concrete to Culinary Delights

For Travis Decker, the launch of Street Taterz represents a significant career change. After years of working in the concrete industry, which had taken a toll on his body, Decker found solace in his lifelong passion for cooking. "I've done concrete work my whole life, and that was hard on my body. I've had a couple of surgeries," he shared. "I've always loved to cook and have people over for chili."

Crafting Homemade Chili with a Twist

The heart of Street Taterz' menu is the homemade chili, a savory blend of four types of beans – white, black, chili, and kidney – combined with ground beef, diced tomatoes, and a secret blend of seasonings. This versatile dish can be enjoyed as a standalone serving or as a topping for the loaded baked potatoes, all-beef hot dogs, and bratwurst.

Loaded Baked Potato Perfection

The star of the show at Street Taterz is undoubtedly the loaded baked potato. Customers can indulge in the classic version, featuring shredded cheese, fresh bacon bits, sour cream, butter, chives, and onions. But the menu also boasts specialty options, such as the breakfast-inspired version, complete with country sausage and gravy.

Rotating Specialty Features

Decker envisions keeping the menu exciting with daily baked potato features, similar to the concept of "Taco Tuesday." These specials might include seasoned beef or chicken, along with a variety of toppings. Additionally, the menu will expand as the weather turns colder, with the introduction of more hearty soups.

Customizable Cravings

One of the unique offerings at Street Taterz is the ability for customers to add a touch of spice to their meals. They can request to have crushed Flamin' Hot Cheetos sprinkled on any menu item, adding a fiery twist to their culinary experience.

Hitting the Streets and Serving the Community

Street Taterz has already made a name for itself, with initial outings at various pop-up locations, including the Crow Bar and 49th Street Liquor. Last week, the food truck even had the honor of serving teachers and staff at Edison Middle School, showcasing their commitment to the local community.

Expanding Horizons and Embracing the Seasons

As the weather cools, Decker plans to explore new opportunities to keep Street Taterz in operation throughout the winter months. "I hope to find a heated location to store the trailer and bring it out throughout winter if the weather isn't too harsh," he shared, determined to ensure that his customers can continue to enjoy the delectable offerings year-round.

Booking for Public and Private Events

In addition to their regular street food ventures, Street Taterz is available for booking at public and private events. Whether it's a community gathering, a corporate function, or a private celebration, the Deckers are ready to bring their culinary expertise and satisfy the cravings of any crowd. With its mouthwatering menu, innovative offerings, and commitment to the local community, Street Taterz is poised to become a beloved fixture in the Sioux Falls food scene. As the weather cools and the seasons change, this food truck is sure to warm the hearts and taste buds of all who encounter it.
