A chapter in the storied history of Minneota volleyball has come to an end as head coach Hayley Fruin announced her resignation. Over nine years, she led the team to unprecedented success, including three state championships and six appearances in the state tournament finals. Her decision stems from a desire to dedicate more time to family and professional responsibilities while ensuring the program continues on a strong path.

Hayley Fruin's journey with the Minneota Vikings began in 2006, when she was part of the team’s inaugural state championship squad as a player. Eighteen years later, she departs as one of the most accomplished coaches in the program’s history. Balancing motherhood, coaching, and her demanding role at Bremer Bank became increasingly challenging, prompting her thoughtful decision. "It wasn't an easy choice," Fruin explained, emphasizing that maintaining excellence in all areas of life required this step.

Fruin leaves behind an extraordinary legacy marked by a stellar record of 251 wins against only 42 losses. Under her guidance, the Vikings consistently reached new heights, culminating in three state titles and three runner-up finishes. Her final season saw them secure second place in Class A, continuing their tradition of excellence even amidst changes within the team dynamics.

Beyond the scoreboard, Fruin cherished relationships forged with assistant coaches Emily Citterman and Dana Peterson. Their collaboration extended beyond game strategies into late-night discussions and constant communication. These interactions not only strengthened the team but also provided personal growth opportunities for Fruin herself. She expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support from administration, parents, and players throughout her tenure.

Looking ahead, Fruin remains committed to supporting Minneota volleyball in different capacities. She envisions staying involved as a lifelong advocate for the program. Her message to future generations is clear: achieving balance between career, family, and passion projects is possible with dedication and presence. As Minneota moves forward under new leadership, the foundation laid by Fruin ensures continued prosperity for years to come.
