"My dad was such an incredible man," John recalls, "and some of my fondest memories are putting contests with my dad until it got dark, and he was using this putter." This putter, a symbol of the bond they shared, became a family heirloom after Pat's passing in May, following a twelve-year battle with prostate cancer.

As an LPGA caddie, John Pavelko had carefully preserved his father's putter, keeping it as a treasured memento. "The only thing that I really care about in that trunk was my dad's putter, and it's worth nothing, but it's my most prized possession."

According to Minneapolis Police crime statistics, the North Loop neighborhood has seen a troubling surge in vehicle break-ins, with 78 thefts from vehicles reported during the same period as Pavelko's loss. Surveillance Footage Reveals a Brazen Thief

Nadeem Schwen, a resident who uses the same parking garage as Pavelko, experienced a similar ordeal on the same night. "When I came to my car, I noticed there was a broken window," Schwen recounts. His car camera captured footage of a man prowling the area, first without a mask and then returning with his face covered, before attempting to smash the windows of several vehicles. "When I watched the videos, the guy came up without any sort of facial mask, looking with a flashlight at the surrounding cars," Schwen explains. "And then he comes back with a mask on his face, and then he tries to break, well — smashing a bunch of car windows, and then the alarm goes off, and he runs away."

A Relentless Search for a Priceless Memento

Undeterred by the theft, Pavelko has embarked on a relentless search for his father's putter, scouring pawn shops, second-hand sports stores, and even dumpsters in the neighborhood. His family has even offered a $500 reward for the safe return of the irreplaceable keepsake. "Just keep an eye for it please," Pavelko pleads, "I hope people are not as dumb as I am, and can be smart and make sure, don't leave stuff in your cars."
