In Milton, Florida, a distraught man is seeking the return of his hard-earned money from a dental care establishment in Pensacola. His wife was supposed to receive implants, but the promised procedure never took place despite him having paid a significant sum. This ordeal has left him not only angry but also in great pain.

A Husband's Struggle for Justice in Dental Care

Initial Payment and Contract

In August 2023, Tony Vasilakis' wife Susan was scheduled for the second phase of an oral restoration procedure involving pricey zygomatic implants. The contract from Comfort Dental Care in Pensacola clearly stated a price of $24,380, which is the amount he claims to have paid. This was on top of the more than $27,000 he had already shelled out for the first phase in November 2022. In total, he had invested over $51,000. "I like to pay for what I'm getting. I don't mind if it's expensive as long as I get good work done. But this situation has been extremely frustrating," he expressed. The trust he placed in the dental facility was shattered as they started giving one excuse after another. "Our supplier didn't come through," "Oh the x-ray tech has got Covid this week," and "Oh we'll call you back when we're ready." These were just some of the common phrases he heard. He kept calling them repeatedly, but they never got back to him.

Wife's Health and the Implant's Importance

Susan was suffering from complications due to Alzheimer's. Her speech therapist emphasized the significance of getting the teeth and the hole covered up to help her communicate. Vasilakis said, "It was crucial for her to be able to speak, and the implant would have made a big difference. But now, it's too late as she passed away from Alzheimer's complications in August this year, just one year after the implants were supposed to be done. By not being able to communicate, it hurt her deeply, and it also affected me a lot."

Seeking Legal Help and Demanding Refund

Vasilakis didn't just sit back and accept the situation. He sought legal counsel and turned to the Escambia and Santa Rosa bar association for guidance. However, after all the efforts, he has had enough. " $24,000 at a time is a substantial amount. I want my money back. I wouldn't mind them paying for the lawyer I hired, and why not add some interest on it? That's a significant chunk of change that I could have invested elsewhere," he firmly stated. This case highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in dental care and the devastating impact it can have on patients and their families.
