Tyler Thayer's coaching career has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence. As an assistant coach at Barry University, a NCAA Division II institution, Thayer played a pivotal role in the program's success. He was instrumental in recruiting and developing three Sunshine State All-Conference players and one All-Newcomer player, as well as guiding nine players to professional basketball careers. Thayer's ability to identify and nurture talent has been a hallmark of his coaching approach, and he is eager to apply these skills to the Middle Georgia Knights.

Thayer's extensive experience within the NCAA system will be a valuable asset to the Middle Georgia program. Prior to his stint at Barry, he served as an assistant coach at Independence Community College, where he assisted in all aspects of the program, including academics and compliance. During his time there, Thayer recruited and developed five All-Jayhawk players and helped eight players secure NCAA Division I scholarships. There, he played a pivotal role in recruiting and building the startup NCAA Division II men's basketball program from the ground up.
