The automotive world has taken notice of Mercedes' latest offering, the CLA, which boasts an impressive electric range. This small electric vehicle (EV) is set to redefine standards in Britain with its ability to travel up to 484 miles on a single charge. Starting at £45,615, this EV offers remarkable value compared to other long-range competitors like the Polestar 3 and Audi A6 E-Tron. Available configurations include the base model, CLA250+, and more advanced AMG Line editions. The car's performance is enhanced by a cutting-edge NMC battery, a two-speed gearbox for efficiency, and options for both electric and hybrid powertrains.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a game-changer in the electric vehicle market with the new CLA. Expected to hit British roads in Q3 of this year, the CLA comes equipped with a state-of-the-art 85kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. This technology not only increases energy density but also reduces production emissions by approximately 30%. Charging capabilities reach up to 320kW, providing over 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Furthermore, the inclusion of a two-speed gearbox enhances efficiency at various speeds, mimicking systems seen in high-performance vehicles like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

The CLA's base model, the CLA250+ with EQ Technology Sport Edition, provides drivers with a powerful motor output of 268bhp and 247lb ft, enabling acceleration from 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds. For those seeking even more power, the dual-motor 350 variant delivers an exhilarating 256bhp and 380lb ft of torque, though at the expense of reduced overall range. It should be noted that currently, only the single-motor version is confirmed for the UK market.

In addition to its electric capabilities, Mercedes plans to introduce a hybrid version later this year. Featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a compact 1.3kWh battery pack, this option will appeal to buyers who prefer non-electric alternatives without compromising on style or design. Both versions share striking exterior features, such as a grille adorned with precisely 142 LED stars.

Inside, the CLA showcases innovation through its debut of Mercedes' newest MBUX infotainment system integrated with artificial intelligence. Spanning across a 14-inch central touchscreen and complemented by a 10.25-inch driver display, this setup promises seamless connectivity and intuitive operation. With pre-orders already open in the UK, customers eagerly await their deliveries later this year, marking the beginning of a new era in sustainable luxury motoring.
