Off-Road Capabilities

The boxy G-Class with its remarkable features comes equipped with 4 electric motors, each independently driving a wheel. This allows for independent movement and enables diverse driving styles. For off-road driving, there is the G-TURN system, a new way of turning the vehicle by 720 degrees or 2 rounds. The wheels can rotate in opposite directions simultaneously, enabling the vehicle to make quick turns, which is extremely beneficial when traveling in small or narrow areas.The G-STEERING system reduces the turning radius by commanding each wheel to increase or decrease power independently according to the situation at a speed not exceeding 25 kilometers per hour.

Electric Performance

It's important to note that both these systems are limited to working on off-road terrain such as dirt roads or gravel roads. In terms of performance, the G 580 with EQ Technology has a maximum power of 587 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,164 Newton-meters. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour.The battery capacity is 116 kWh, allowing for a maximum driving range of 473 kilometers (WLTP) after a single charge.For charging, the direct current (DC) charging speed is up to 200 kWh, and it takes 32 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. The alternating current (AC) charging speed is up to 11 kWh, and it takes 11 hours and 45 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

Structural Strength

The vehicle's body structure is designed to be strong, using steel sheets that are less than 3.4 millimeters thick. This helps in various usage situations and reduces the noise inside the cabin. Under the vehicle, for special off-road use, the G 580 with EQ Technology has a skid plate to protect the high-voltage battery made of carbon fiber with a thickness of up to 3 centimeters.

Driving Modes

The driving program or ELECTRIC DYNAMIC SELECT offers 5 modes, divided into 3 on-road programs: Comfort, Sport, and Individual, and 2 off-road programs: Trail and Rock.The detailed front lighting with MULTIBEAM LED can accurately detect curves and blind spots and works together with the ULTRA RANGE Highbeam function to adjust the headlight brightness to shine up to 650 meters automatically in suitable situations, making long-distance driving outside the city more convenient and safe with better visibility.The Intelligent Light System (ILS) adjusts its operation to match the driving situation and road conditions. The Active Light System (ALS) adjusts the headlight beam according to the vehicle's turning. The Cornering Light increases the lighting during cornering. The Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically adjusts the headlight height without disturbing the oncoming driver.The 5-twin-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels are painted in high-gloss black. The adaptive damping suspension can adjust the response mode through different driving modes and according to the differential locks in use, making it suitable for road conditions. However, it cannot be adjusted to a lower height as it is not an air suspension. When driving on a smooth road, it adjusts to respond softly to reduce shock and noise from the tires. When driving on a rough road, it adjusts the suspension to respond more strongly for a comfortable and smooth feel.

Safety and Convenience Features

The safety assistance package includes features such as the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC for automatic distance control and speed adjustment, the Active Lane Keeping Assist to keep the vehicle in the lane, Active Steering Assist, the Active Blind Spot Assist to warn of vehicles in the blind spot, and the Active Steering Assist for controlling the steering. It also comes with a Parking Package with a 360° surround camera.In addition, the new G-Class includes other functions such as the KEYLESS-GO keyless entry system for all 4 doors. This is the first time in the G-Class that there is no need to press a key to open or close the doors. It also has an air pressure release system, making it easier to close the G-Class doors. However, fans of off-roading don't need to worry about the coolness disappearing because it still has a loud and powerful sound, but it is just easier to close.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand has launched the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology in 2 versions:The STANDARD version starts at 9,500,000 baht.The EDITION ONE version starts at 12,200,000 baht (all the attached pictures are of this version).The EDITION ONE has additional features compared to the STANDARD version, such as the AMG Bodystyling exterior package, the Night Package, and the MANUFAKTUR logo package in black. There is a G logo at every position to convey the iconicity of the G-Class, such as on the door handles, floor lighting, and rear storage compartments. The sides of the vehicle are decorated with silver and dark blue colors. The front and caliper are also decorated with dark blue. The 20-inch AMG 10-spoke alloy wheels add to the sporty look.Inside, the AMG Interior is trimmed with silver and dark blue seats and floor mats, along with special carbon fiber trim in dark blue and the addition of active multi-contour seats for the front seats.
