This collision left five individuals, including three children, requiring hospital care. Emergency services were alerted to the crash at the junction of Collins Road and Vermont Road near Woodstock. Upon arrival, they discovered the extent of the damage necessitating additional support due to multiple victims.
The incident began when a small sport utility vehicle overturned after being struck by a pickup truck. Responding firefighters extracted the SUV's driver from the wreckage and transferred them to an ambulance. Due to the severity of their condition, a medical helicopter airlifted this individual to Javon Bea Hospital. Meanwhile, all occupants of the pickup truck were assessed on-site. The female driver and three children sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation. One male passenger opted against further medical assistance.
Emergency crews worked diligently at the scene, causing a temporary closure of the intersection for almost two hours. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has since taken over the investigation into the cause of the accident.
